About Us:

Eastview Academy, formerly Heritage Christian Academy, is the results of a dream several mothers and educators shared at Eastview United Pentecostal Church.  The research and preparation for the opening of the school took about twelve months.  Decisions concerning curriculum, staff, finances, facility renovations, uniforms, and administration needed time and prayer to ensure that the will of God was followed in this endeavor.  What grades to offer became a big element in the decisions that were made.  The philosophy of those closest to the project felt that students deserved to be able to continue in a Christian environment through high school.  Therefore, since opening its doors, PreK-4 through 12th grade have been offered.

With the help and cooperation of many supporters, the dream of a Christian school became a reality.  Heritage Christian Academy opened its doors on August 14, 1996 to approximately 45 students representing several denominations.

Eastview Academy remains a ministry for Eastview United Pentecostal Church, and celebrated its 10th year Anniversary during the 2006-2007 school term.  Eastview Academy continues to maintain high standards of academic excellence, values that build character development, an individualized curriculum with mastery-based learning, and diagnostic testing to determine the student’s strengths and weaknesses.  Standardized testing is also administered each spring to measure student progress and compare the students to national norms.

The administrative structure of Eastview Academy includes: an Executive Board, Administrator, which is the pastor of Eastview UPC, a principal, and a school secretary.  Staff includes supervisors and monitors that facilitate learning in a highly motivated environment.

Currently, Elwanda Stricklen serves as the Educational Consultant of Eastview Academy.  Mrs. Stricklen holds a Master’s Degree in education and comes to us with forty-two years of educational experience—37 years in the public school system and 5 years experience in the operation of a private school prior to Eastview Academy.  She served as principal for the past three years.  Rev. Andy Gossett is our current principal and comes to us with many years of pastoral leadership experience.
